Fort Collins finalist in 2018 U.S. Mayors Challenge

News BriefsThe Bloomberg 2018 U.S. Mayors Challenge is underway and out of 320 applicants, 35 cities have been selected as finalists and have been recognized as Champion Cities. The Bloomberg 2018 U.S. Mayors Challenge is a nationwide challenge that encourages city leaders to find innovative solutions to the toughest problems facing their city. Fort Collins, Boulder and Denver are among the 35 finalists and will transition into a six-month testing period where they test prototypes of their ideas with up to $100,000 in funding per city. 2017 Regional Housing Snapshot

Information and Real Estate Services (IRES), our Northern Colorado MLS, released final numbers for the Regional Snapshot 2017. In Greeley, the number of Listings Sold was down 15% while the Median Sales Price was up 10%, reaching $275,000. The Average Days on Market (ADOM) decreased by 21.2%, lowering to 52 days. In Loveland, the number of Listings Sold was up by 11.3% and the Median Sales Price up by 4.3%, reaching $360,000. The ADOM in Loveland was down 3.8% over last year to reach 77 days. In nearby Fort Collins, the number of Listings Sold increased by 2% and the Median Sales Price increased by 7% to reach $381,395. The ADOM for Fort Collins dropped 6.6% to hit 71 days.

Colorado a Top 10 ‘Happiest State’

The Gallup-Sharecare 2017 State of American Well-Being Rankings were recently released and Colorado came in at #6. Colorado and Hawaii are the only two states to have made the Top 10 since the index began in 2008. The goal of the index is to measure how Americans feel about their physical health, social connections, finances, community and sense of purpose. Learn more at:

Milken: Fort Collins a best performing city

News BriefsThe Milken Institute recently released their list of the 2017 best-performing large cities and Fort Collins came in at #5. Metropolitan areas were measured in regard to economic performance using metrics like job creation, wage gains, and technology developments. Colorado a top 10 state for women entrepreneurs

According to, the state of Colorado is one of the most desirable states for female entrepreneurs. The online publication for small business owners ranked all 50 states based on factors like the % of women-owned firms, % of state’s business revenues coming from women-owned firms and women’s economic clout within the state. Contract approved for NoCo I-25 express lanes

The Colorado Department of Transportation recently approved a $248 million contract with Kraemer/IHC to add express lanes on Interstate 25 from Johnstown to Fort Collins. Johnstown a Top 10 Safest City in Colorado

For the fourth year in a row the city of Johnstown made the SafeWise Report of the “Top 10 Safest Cities in Colorado,” coming in at #6 for 2017. SafeWise compiles their rankings based on FBI crime data for cities of 3,000 or more people. You can read the complete SafeWise report at:
